Transnational Organised Crime in the Western Balkans: effects in the region and beyond

The Head of Balkan Criminology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna-Maria Getoš Kalac was one of the key speakers at the event hosted by LSE IDEAS and the Ratiu Forum, also co-organised with the Belgrade Center for Security Policy (BCSP).

The event gathered researchers and policy experts to discuss how Western Balkans organised crime groups came to dominate the global criminal underground from North America to South Africa. Alongside our very own Assoc. Prof. Dr. Getoš Kalac, other speakers included Vanja Ćalović, Executive Director of the Montenegrin non-profit MANS, Bojan Elek, Senior Researcher at Belgrade Centre for Security Policy and Dr Walter Kemp, the Director at South Eastern Europe Observatory with Dr William Bartlett, Deputy Director of LSE Research on South-Eastern Europe (LSEE) as the chair.
