Balkan Criminology core group presenting at the “NEW EUROPE” Conference, Warsaw

The Center for European Policy Research organised an international scientific conference called “New Europe”. The Conference was held in Warsaw from September 20th to September 21st 2023. It gathered experts, journalists and politicians which discussed key topics of the European future.

Some of the topics discussed include: the role of the European Union after 2004, “ideas, projects and ideas for the future of the Union, as well as challenges and opportunities related to new tools of action,” as well as “the role of Europe in the global architecture of the 21st century through analyzing the changing geopolitical context.”

One of the invited speakers was the Head of the Balkan Criminology, Prof. Dr. Getoš Kalac who presented the topic of “Efficiency of justice system across Europe – Precondition or Reflection of Rule of Law?”.

Dr. Petra Šprem, a member of the Balkan Criminology group held a presentation on: “Prisoner’s rights and rule of law in connection with Art. 3 of the ECHR.

The relevance of the issues raised as well as a number of the renowned experts participated at this Conference shows its success.
